Found a small “bug” on the settings document for Lotus Traveler on Domino 8.5 servers. If you create a settings document for Traveler, and change the synchronization options under Preferences -> Sync, the settings are not saved if you leave “How to apply this setting” on “Don’t set value”. If you leave it on that setting, the checkmarks and auto sync option will always revert to the default settings if you save and close the document.
It may seem logic that it doesn’t save the settings, if you don’t apply them anyway. But I haven’t seen this behavior on other setting documents before, so I think it’s save to say that this isn’t intended behavior.
